Why is DevOps adoption so popular right now?

DevOps adoption is growing. It’s quickly gaining traction and awareness, particularly at a senior level, and every IT organization should investigate the benefits of taking on a DevOps approach, if you haven't already. In fact, a recent study by Garter states that IT organizations choosing not to pursue DevOps are in the minority. 

But, simply because it's so "popular" isn't a reason to adopt it.

It's this discussion and market-curiosity that triggered our creation of the Why DevOps Handbook.
